Abstract: The objective of this paper is to throw light on the contribution of the ancient Indian scriptures to the business practices. India is wrongly understood as an agrarian economy ever since its dawn, the truth being that Indians have always been business communities trading artifacts. The integral part of the Indian culture - religion has made it a collectivist culture where the focus is on the 'whole' rather than 'its parts'. This family-oriented collectivist culture also reflected in the family-owned business practices in Indian which still holds its Indianness firmly.
